Producer:	Colle Castagno is a true wine dream! The young couple Florence and Serge Meyer from Bern have tackled the realization of their dream and bought a rundown old farm with about 25 hectares of land. Meanwhile, six hectares are planted with vines and two hectares with olive trees. This gem is located about 60 kilometers south of Siena on the edge of the small DOC area Montecucco. This is bordered to the north by the vineyards of the Brunello area and to the south by the foothills of the Morellino hills.
Region	The Maremma is a landscape in central Italy and covers the entire southern Tuscany and parts of northern Lazio. The Maremma is largely a flat landscape. Only in some places do the hills and mountains of the hinterland extend right up to the coast. Of course, the Maremma with its beaches is also an excellent destination for a beach holiday. The landscape and the worth seeing old cities on the coast and in the hinterland make the region interesting also for culture and nature vacationers. The Maremma has a large number of natural parks and nature reserves. The wines of the Maremma enjoy increasing popularity and all the famous Italian wineries have secured crops here and produce high quality wines.

Tasting note:	Elegant, harmoniously woven aromas of ripe plums, cherries and blackberries, sweet pipe tobacco and freshly brewed coffee. Very tight on the palate, supple and powerful in the river with a firm structure and soft, well-integrated tannins that carry the full-bodied body into the pleasantly persistent finale.

Enjoy with:	With game dishes and dark meat, but also very good to an assorted cheese platter.
