Producer : | The family business Farnese is based in Castello Caldora. The young company chose this medieval castello as its headquarters to illustrate its philosophy of tradition and innovation. Especially the local grape varieties Trebbiano, Montepulciano, Sangiovese etc. are cultivated and expanded to the latest technical standards by the oenologist Filippo Baccalaro together with Australian and the French oenologist Jean-Marc Subua, who was mediated by Hugh Johnson. This combination quickly proved to be very successful in many international markets and in the specialist press, which rated these wines highly. |
Region: | The fertile region of Puglia in the very south of Italy, practically on the heel, stretches 350km along the Adriatic coast. The Mediterranean climate and the widely suitable soils create ideal conditions for rich red wines, especially from the Negroamaro and Primitivo grape varieties. |
Grape variety : | Montepulciano, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera |
Manufacture : | Harvested by hand and then the grapes are vinified separately and aged in French and American oak barrels. Then the assemblage takes place. |
Degustationsnotiz: | Velvety dark red with black highlights. Smoky notes and dried grape berries on the nose with seductive black berries. It is dense, rich in extracts, powerful and shows an enormous length in the finish. A delicacy for fans of very rich plants from southern Italy. |
Drinkability : | year + 6 years |
Enjoy: | Strong dishes made from red and white meat are best served on the charcoal grill. Large pieces of meat fried in one piece. Summer and autumn game specialties. Not mandatory for the main course - it goes perfectly with cheese that has not matured after eating. Use large glasses so that the wine can develop. |
