Region: |
This dry region, which is very suitable for the cultivation of wine and olives, is characterized by sandstone slopes. Three thousand hours of sunshine a year and 300 mm of rainfall - usually in short, heavy showers during the season - are statistics of an area that has always produced high-quality wines for blends.
The majority (90%) of Jumilla produces red wines. So far, a large part of the everyday wines that Ms. and Mr. Spanier drink every day came from Jumilla. No reason, however, to underestimate this region!
The Monastrell grape was wrongly misunderstood for a long time. New plantings and a lot of know-how from other regions of the world as well as investments in new technologies opened up the potential of this grape, which is native to Spain and southern France (Mourvèdre). |
