Producer : | The young Vigneti del Vulture winery is located in the Basilicata region in southern Italy. Monte Vulture, a volcano that has been extinct for a long time, rises from there. Its ashes shape the fertile soils of the region, in which outstanding wines mature. Here is the home of the famous Aglianico del Vulture, a grape variety that is of Greek origin. It takes many years to create all its strength and as a product strong red wines with a deep color. In the Aglianico del Vulture region, about 150 kilometers east of Naples, a few young enthusiasts took over the vineyards of a disused winegrowers' cooperative. They were immediately able to dispose of vines of the ideal age, and they would soon be able to market excellent wines. Vigneti del Vulture is part of the Farnese Vini Group, which is at their side with know-how in the winery and marketing. |
Grape variety : | Aglianico del Vulture |
Manufacture : | hand-picked and repeated selection = table inspection before fermentation. The maceration lasts 25 to 30 days, with the mash being stirred by hand every 6 hours. The expansion takes place in barriques and this for 24 months. Unfortunately only 6000 bottles of production. |
Degustationsnotiz: | An almost youthful dark red. On the nose, roasted aromas, dried figs, stone plice and almond notes. A lot of cassis on the palate, again fine roasted aromas and tar, dense, complex and ends intensely in the finish. We find the volcanic proximity is noticeable in the wine. The barren rock leaves character in the taste. |
Drinkability : | year + 8 years |
Enjoy: | Everything from the grill including sea fish goes very well with it. Strong pasta variations or risotto. Ripe cheese from the cow and the goat. Also wonderful after eating. |
