Description

Producer : Although Giacomo Neri's wines have been among the best from Montalcino or even from all over Italy for years, he has never been in the spotlight and was little known, especially abroad. This changed abruptly at the turn of the year 2006/2007, when his Tenuta Nuova 2001 was first ranked number 1 in the top 100 world rankings by the "Wine Spectator" and in January 2007 the Cerretalto 2001 even received the dream grade of 100 points. Three different brunellos are produced: the basic brunello comes from the traditional vineyards around the cellar and is also pressed and developed according to tradition. From the locations in the south, Giacomo Neri harvests the Brunello Tenuta Nuova, which has meanwhile become one of the most sought after in Italy. In the northeast of Montalcino lies the Cerretalto vineyard, from which he wins the Brunello of the same name. The Cerretalto is a complex, masterly grape wine from which only a few thousand bottles are produced and only in really good years.
Region: The Brunello di Montalcino was the first wine in Italy to receive the DOCG label in 1980, i.e. the controlled and guaranteed designation of origin, which is confirmed by a state seal of approval for these high quality wines. According to the legal production regulations, it may only be made from the Brunello di Montalcino grape variety. The Brunello can not look back on a long history. He is the creation of a man, the winemaker and oenologist Ferruccio Biondi-Santi, who, about 100 years ago, grew the Brunello di Montalcino vine from a sangiovese grosso sapling and - unlike the Chianti red wines - made from their grapes Brunello started producing.
Grape variety : Sangiovese, Colorino
Manufacture : The Sangiovese is aged in 48 - 72 hl wooden barrels, the Colorino in 6 hl barrels.
Degustationsnotiz: Dense aromas of cherry, plum and a lot of spiciness in the bouquet; at the The palate is exceptionally dense with wonderfully balanced tannins, again spicy notes with boiled fruit.
Drinkability : year + 5 years
Enjoy: Hearty meat dishes from game, lamb and beef, aged cheese.
