Producer : | In the municipality of Peñafiel, in the middle of the Ribera del Duero wine region, three wine friends founded Bodegas Carramimbre in 1997. The bodega grew continuously and now owns around 50 hectares of vineyards. The best pago is called "Carramimbre" and is mostly planted with Tempranillo and some Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in a modern way. Many journalists in Spain have recently become aware of the wines from Bodegas Carramimbre and are encouraging the three friends on their way. |
Region: | The Ribera del Duero comprises around 12,000 hectares of vineyards. There is a temperate continental climate with slight influences from the Atlantic. It rains very little. Summers are very hot with temperatures up to 40 degrees and sudden cooling at night. The humidity also contributes to the most common fog formation in the Duero Valley. Gently curving hills and plateaus (700 - 800 m above sea level) on both sides of the Duero river with light soils and a lime content of up to 18% fulfill optimal cultivation conditions. |

Degustationsnotiz: | In the nose intense and complex nose of boiled plums, juniper, cinnamon and spicy herbs. In addition to the black berry notes, hints of dried fruit appear like fig. On the palate again blackberries, cassis and gingerbread, strong middle with supportive tannins, lots of material until the long finish. |
