Description

Producer: It all starts with a nickname, "Braida", which Giuseppe Bologna earned when he played Piedmont's popular sport "pallone elastico". The head of the family worked as a carter and built his beautiful vineyard with Barbera, for himself and his friends. Giacomo Bologna inherited from his father this vineyard and the nicknames, but above all the unconditional love for its soil and wine. He also communicated this love first to his wife Anna, then to his children Raffaella and Beppe. Today, the farm is the enlarged image of the philosophy of Giacomo and Anna, their attitude towards life, soil and wine. It was Anna who, after Giacomo's death, took over the inheritance and realized the plans he had begun and dreamed of. For years, Raffaella and Beppe have shared the courageous initiatives and important investments both in the cellar and on the vineyard. Raffaella and Beppe are different siblings: they take care of the commercial part with verve and acumen; he, the more thoughtful and calm one, prefers the agricultural part and the production.
Region Piedmont - the region of the highest mountains, the largest wines, the longest river and perhaps the best cuisine in Italy. It is divided geologically into three landscapes: the high mountains of the Western Alps, the flat Po Valley and the southern lowlands of Monferrato and Langhe. Piedmont stands for history and memory, art and culture, legends and traditions. There are 12 DOCG areas and the most famous ones are Barolo, Barbaresco - certainly Asti, Gavi and Roero. Unless marked as DOCG wine, all wines have DOC status. The most important vermouth manufacturers in the world have their home in Piedmont. The drink consists of at least 70% wine.
Variety: Barbera
Production The Barbera grapes from the Uccellone vineyard are picked by hand and processed immediately. After gently squeezing the grapes, a gentle mash fermentation follows. After that the young wine matures for 18 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Note: Full-bodied with silky tannins and good melting, dark cherries, noble barrique flavors and a bewitching nuance-rich variety of flavors. Long and very harmonious finale, despite its youthfulness. Full-bodied on the palate with silky
Maturity: Year + 8 years
Enjoy With: Strong meat dishes and Piedmontese specialties (Fonduta with truffles, brasato etc.). Excellent too with mature cheese.
