Producer : | Known as the co-founder of the Anima Negro winery, the cult winemaker Francesc Grimalt has been pursuing his own project for a few years now, which is extremely natural. On the now 40 hectares of natural vineyards, he mainly concentrates on local varieties. He is considered the maestro of the red Callet variety, which is probably not interpreted as precisely in any other currently existing wine as in the Grimalt Caballero, a parcel wine of an almost beguiling delicacy. |
Region: | Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands with around 36,000 km2. Due to the mild Mediterranean climate with dry summers, very short winters and an annual rainfall of approx. 550 liters as well as generous, year-round sunshine, there are very good conditions for viticulture. Two DO areas comprise around 90 percent of the Mallorcan wine-growing region: Binissalem (around 400 ha) in the center and Pla i Llevant (around 250 ha) in the eastern part. |
Grape variety : | Callet |
Manufacture : | 50% vinified in steel tanks and 2500 liter wooden barrels. Then aged for 14 months in new French 600 liter barriques. Only 15,000 bottles were filled. |
Degustationsnotiz: | Ruby red color. Aromatic and fresh on the nose, with pronounced minerality and notes of red cherries, raspberries and Mediterranean herbs. A lot of freshness, lightness and intense, complex aromas on the palate. An extremely elegant vintage that was exclusively vinified with the indigenous Callet grape variety. |
Drinkability : | year + 7 years |
Enjoy: | Hearty meat dishes of all kinds, grilled vegetables, tapas and pasta |
