Producer: | Known as the co-founder of the Anima Negro winery, the cult winegrower Francesc Grimalt has been pursuing his own project for several years, which is extremely close to nature. On the now stately area of 40 hectares of natural vineyards, he concentrates mainly on local varieties. He is considered the maestro of the red Callet variety, which is probably interpreted as precisely in any other currently existing wine as in the Grimalt Caballero, a parcel wine of an almost bewitching fineness |
Region | Majorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, with some 36,000 km2. Due to the mild Mediterranean climate with dry summers, very short winters and an annual rainfall of about 550 liters and a generous, year-round sunshine prevail very good conditions for viticulture. Two DO areas comprise about 90 percent of the Mallorcan wine-growing region: Binissalem (about 400 hectares) in the center and Pla i Llevant (about 250 hectares) in the eastern part. |
Variety: | Callet |
production | Vinified 50% each in steel tank and 2500 liter wooden barrel. Then expanded for 14 months in new French 600-liter barriques. Only 15,000 bottles were bottled. |
tasting note: | Ruby color. Aromatic and fresh on the nose, with pronounced mineral notes and notes of red cherries, raspberries and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, a lot of freshness, lightness and intense, complex aromas. An extremely elegant vintage vinified exclusively with the indigenous grape variety Callet. |
Maturity: | Year + 7 years |
Enjoy: | Strong meat dishes of all kinds, grilled vegetables, tapas and pasta |
