Producer :	Niepoorts Quinta de Nápolez sits high above the Rio Tedo, a branch of the Douro in the Cima Corgo, the middle section of the Douro wine region. The family company, founded in 1842 by Franciscus Marius Niepoort, is one of the small, fine port wine producers. Dirk Niepoort today runs the company with his sister Verena in the 5th generation. He is considered an important oenological voice of Portugal. Since joining the company in 1987, Dirk has been pursuing a second line: table wines. It is thanks to him and his wealth of ideas that the Douro Valley has an excellent reputation today as a wine region.
Region:	This wild and beautiful landscape in the north of Portugal offers exceptionally good conditions for the grape varieties, terraced slopes on the Douro River and hills that line up to the horizon. The wine terraces, which benefit from ideal climatic conditions, are flooded with sun, which heats up the pure slate and granite flooring typical of this region. Nevertheless, life is not so easy for the winegrowers on the Douro: the roots of the vines are pressed down and grow through the rock to find the scarce water resources, while the slate absorbs the heat and then radiates it. Wine experts from all over the world have recognized that the region of the Douro offers ideal conditions to produce top quality non-enriched red and white wines.
Grape variety :	Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional
Manufacture :	The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness, with a high acidity and balanced sugar gradations. After the selection in the delivery to the cellar, the grapes were completely de-stemmed. The fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, where the berries spent 8 to 15 days on the mash. 15% of the wine was aged in used French barriques for 12 months.
Degustationsnotiz:	The color is vivid, with medium intensity. The aroma is very expressive and shows fresh and floral notes, under which the balsamic accents so typical of the Douro valley dominate. On the palate, the wine is elegant, lively and solid without being clumsy, with a clearly mineral character. With its harmony and elegance, this wine represents exactly that uncomplicated style that is so close to our hearts.
