Automatic trickle charger for car and motorcycle batteries


The MXS 3.8 is a 7-stage, microprocessor-controlled charger with trickle charging function for batteries between 1 , 2 Ah and 85 Ah. The range of functions includes battery diagnostics that determine whether the battery can accept and hold a charge, a patented desulphation program and a (snowflake) program for charging in cold environments. It also includes adjustable programs for charging smaller and normal batteries. The CTEK patented float/pulse system is used in the MXS 3.8. This is the most efficient trickle charge mode when a battery is left connected to the charger for an extended period of time. The MXS 3.8 is easy to use, and the entire charging process can be monitored via the clear, easy-to-read display.

STEP 1 DESULPHATION
Detects sulfated batteries The current and voltage pulsate, removing sulfate from the battery's lead plates, restoring battery capacity.

STEP 2 SOFT START
Checks the battery's ability to charge. This step prevents the charging process from continuing if the battery is defective.

STEP 3 BULK
Charge with maximum current until approx. 80% of the battery capacity is reached.

STEP 4 ABSORPTION
Charging with a weak current until reaching up to 100% of the battery capacity.

STEP 5 ANALYSIS
Test of the charge retention of the battery. Batteries that cannot hold their charge must be replaced.

STEP 6 FLOAT
The battery voltage is kept at its maximum value by charging it with constant voltage.

STEP 7 PULSE
The battery capacity is kept at 95-100%. The charger monitors the battery voltage and gives a charging pulse as soon as necessary to keep the battery fully charged.
