Description

Producer : A top brand! The Argentiera winery is located on the Tuscan coast between Livorno and Grosseto in the Bolgheri DOC wine-growing region. Argentiera is part of the old Donoratico estate belonging to the Serristori family, a Florentine family to whom the Medici gave this land for unlimited use in 1512. The Medici came back to power after a period of political unrest thanks to the Serristori family. In Etruscan times there were natural springs and silver mines on the high plateau of the estate, hence the name Argentiera from argento = silver, which made the area an important center for agriculture and mining. Today the estate is jointly owned by the Corrado brothers and Marcello Fratini, well-known Florentine entrepreneurs, and the Marchese Piero Antinori. Federico Zileri, who already led the Castello di Bolgheri to great success, acts as the estate manager.
Region: Bolgheri is a district of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno. The region became famous in the wine world in the 1970s when the wine region was first recognized by the magazine DECANTER. The most important branch of industry is viticulture and tourism. The Tuscan wine landscape is interspersed with numerous olive groves and forests. The numerous hills of Tuscany are excellent for high-quality wine growing. They soften high summer temperatures and the soils are excellent for making classic French grape varieties thrive as well as indigenous grapes. Every year in Tuscany, top wines are produced in an amount that no other region in the country has to show.
Grape variety : Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Manufacture : aging in barriques.
Degustationsnotiz: Intense cherry red with occasional violet hues. A very intense and fresh bouquet with notes of ripe fruit, citrus and a light spicy fragrance. Round and complex with ripe tannins. The finish is spicy and mineral with notes of licorice and a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
Drinkability : year + 5 years
Enjoy: Hearty dishes, pasta, grilled meat and not too long-aged cheese.
Awards: Vintage 2010 Wine Spectator 90 points

In the summer months, a cool sea breeze sweeps over the vineyards and the surrounding olive groves, while the hills offer protection from the cold north wind in winter
