Description

Producer: A top brand! The Argentiera winery is located on the Tuscan coast between Livorno and Grosseto in the DOC region of Bolgheri. Argentiera belongs to the old estate Donoratico of the family Serristori, a Florentine family, whom the Medici in 1512 left this land for unlimited use. The Medici came back to power after a period of political unrest thanks to the Serristori family. During the Etruscan era, the estate's natural sources and silver mines, hence the Argentiera name of argento = silver, made the area an important center for agriculture and mining. Today, the estate is in common ownership of the brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini, well-known Florentine entrepreneurs, and the Marchese Piero Antinori. The manager is Federico Zileri, who has already led the Castello di Bolgheri to great success.
Region Bolgheri is a hamlet of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno. The area became famous in the wine world in the 70s, when the wine region was first awarded by the magazine DECANTER. The most important branch of industry is viticulture and, consequently, tourism. Interspersed is the Tuscan wine landscape with numerous olive groves and forests. The numerous hills of Tuscany are excellent for the high-quality wine cultivation. They soften high summer temperatures and the floors are also excellent for classic French grape varieties to thrive as well as native grapes. Year after year, in Tuscany, top-quality wines are produced in quantities that no other region in the country has.
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Production aging in the barrique.
Tasting Note: Intense cherry red with occasional violet reflections. A very intense and fresh bouquet with notes of ripe fruit, citrus fruits and a light spicy fragrance. Round and complex with ripe tannins. On the finish spicy and mineral notes of licorice and a pleasant fruity aftertaste.
Maturity: Year + 5 years
Enjoy With: Fits strong dishes, pasta, grilled meats and not too long stored cheese.
Awards Vintage 2010 Wine Spectator 90 Points
