Producer : | Atalayas de Golbán is located in the village of Atauta in the cool, high-altitude eastern part of the Ribera del Duero and was launched by Dominio de Atauta initiator Miguel Sánchez at the beginning of the last decade Atauta Valley with Tempranillo grapes, but in five municipalities that stretch further west on the plateau. The soils there are more dominated by sandy alluvial soil interspersed with debris. And despite their depth, the wines are less opulent than many plants in the warmer western parts of the Ribera. The oenologist Almudena Alberca uses the high altitudes, does not harvest late, relies on red fruit, fresh balsamic and fine acidity. Only French oak barrels are used, but the amount of new wood is very limited. The wine does not show off muscles or mass, but with its medium concentration corresponds to the character of a fine highland tempranillo. |
Region: | The Ribera del Duero comprises around 12,000 hectares of vineyards. There is a temperate continental climate with slight influences from the Atlantic. It rains very little. Summers are very hot with temperatures up to 40 degrees and sudden cooling at night. The humidity also contributes to the most common fog formation in the Duero Valley. Gently curving hills and plateaus (700 - 800 m above sea level) on both sides of the Duero river with light soils and a lime content of up to 18% fulfill optimal cultivation conditions. |
Grape variety : | 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo). The name is derived from the Spanish word temprano = early because their berries are smaller and ripen a little earlier. The Tinto Fino grape is often cut with the Garnacha to the Rioja wine, or Mazuelo. These wines consist of 60-90% grapes from the Tinto Fino grape variety, are deep red, spicy and can be stored for a long time. |
Manufacture : | Hand picked and vinification in noble stainless steel tanks. The expansion takes place in French barriques for 12 months, only half of which are new, so that the roasted aromas are not too pronounced. Once bottled, the wine rests on the bottles for 6 months before it is ready for sale. |
Degustationsnotiz: | The nose is dominated by seductive scents of violets, cherries, blueberries, mocha and cocoa. Soft flow on the palate with round tannins and a lot of enamel, wild strawberries, figs, a little coffee and a hint of caramel, wonderfully interwoven. |
Drinkability : | Vintage + 7 years, enjoy at 16 ° to 18 ° Celsius. |
Enjoy: | With hearty meat dishes, paella, grills - all from Spain. This can be a sea fish, for example. a sea bream with garlic and lots of fresh herbs and vegetables. The wine goes very well with mature cheese, serrano ham, chorizo or lomo. |
