Producer : | The Carmine Crocco was called «Re dei Re» by the people. In the course of the Italian unitary movement of the Risorgimento, the Briganti joined the legendary Carmine Crocco. Since promises of the reform were not kept after King Viktor Emanuel's seizure of power, the brigands moved into the woods and made life a little harder for the aristocracy from there à-la-Robin-Hood. |
Region: | The fertile region of Puglia in the very south of Italy, practically on the heel, stretches 350km along the Adriatic coast. The Mediterranean climate and the widely suitable soils create ideal conditions for rich red wines, especially from the Negroamaro and Primitivo grape varieties. |
Grape variety : | Is not exactly known and can vary. Negroamaro and Primitivo from Puglia, Montepulciano from Abruzzo, Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese from Sicily. Grapes from different provinces and therefore the wine has no vintage and is Vino Rosso. On the back you will find a lot number, for example L2011, which indicates the year. |
Manufacture : | Hand-picked and partly with slightly dried grapes on the stick. It ripens in used and new barriques from America and France for 12 months and slumbers in the bottle for 6 months before it goes on sale. |
Degustationsnotiz: | A charming, extremely personable wine, very well-kept and open. Uncomplicated and always ready for large glasses. Ripe cherries, plums and the finest roasted aromas dominate the nose. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate. A slight residual sweetness accompanies the wine in the creamy finale. |
Drinkability : | year + 6 years |
Enjoy: | Pizza and pasta with a strong taste of their own. Large pieces of beef, veal and lamb all cooked from the grill. Ripe cheese from all types of milk. Game dishes and classics like bratwurst and rösti are also possible. |
