Region: | Prosecco was once the name of a grape variety that winemakers throughout Italy pressed. However, since 2009 the Prosecco grape is no longer called Prosecco by decree, but "Glera" and the term Prosecco is a protected designation of origin. That means, only wine from certain Regions can be called Prosecco. There are two quality levels: D.O.C. means Denominazione di Origine Controllata. This Prosecco comes from 9 areas in the northern Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli. D.O.C.G. stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita.
