Producer : | A top brand! The Argentiera winery is located on the Tuscan coast between Livorno and Grosseto in the Bolgheri DOC wine-growing region. Argentiera is part of the old Donoratico estate belonging to the Serristori family, a Florentine family to whom the Medici gave this land for unlimited use in 1512. The Medici came back to power after a period of political unrest thanks to the Serristori family. In Etruscan times there were natural springs and silver mines on the high plateau of the estate, hence the name Argentiera, from argento = silver, which made the area an important center for agriculture and mining. Today the estate is jointly owned by the Corrado brothers and Marcello Fratini, well-known Florentine entrepreneurs, and the Marchese Piero Antinori. Federico Zileri, who already led the Castello di Bolgheri to great success, acts as the estate manager. |
